Neck Pain and Injury - Is there a cure?
Did you know that your neck has the least amount of muscle stabilization and yet it must move and support your 14-16 pound head?
Imagine your head is a bowling ball and it is balancing atop a broom handle, held in place only by small/thin rubber bands. It doesn't take much force to disrupt this balance. Neck pain can be caused by poor posture, subluxation, auto accident injury, disc problems and even stress. The most common injury is whiplash.
Your spinal cord runs through a space in your vertebrae sending nerve impulses to every part of your body.
Between each pair of cervical vertebrae the spinal cord sends large bundles of nerves that run down your arms and into your upper back. You may be experiencing symptoms in your arms such as coldness, achiness, tingling, pins and needles and areas of numbness. These symptoms can be caused by a problem in your neck.
Signs of possible neck problems include headaches, muscle spasms in your upper back and shoulders, TMJ pain, ringing in your ears, inflammation in your middle ear, chronic tightness in the upper back and neck area and limited range of motion.
Most neck muscles are either attached to or located in the upper back, so neck and upper back problems are associated with one another.
