MUA is an alternative for those patients who are not responding to traditional care. MUA is a non-invasive (non-surgical) outpatient procedure offered for acute and chronic pain, chronic headaches, joint pain, muscle spasms, shortened muscles, failed surgery and long term pain syndromes.
Your pain could be gone in as little as 3 days!
The MUA procedure employs a team approach of highly trained and certified MUA physicians.
The MUA procedure begins with an Anesthesiologist/CRNA lightly sedating the patient. The patient is sedated to achieve a state of relaxation. It is this "twilight sedation" which allows the manipulations and stretches that were once too difficult to be accomplished without pain. This relaxed state allows the doctor to complete a series of adjustments and stretching movements without muscle congestion. The sedated patient is also more responsive and less apprehensive during their session, thus increasing the effectiveness of their treatment.
After a traumatic injury or surgery, the body immediately goes to work to try to heal itself. Part of the body's natural healing process is to lay down scar tissue at the injured site.
Scar tissue formation within a joint can impair mobility, sometimes resulting in frequent pain. Scar tissue also has the potential to entrap a nerve which can cause further pain, Scar tissue can also render traditional therapies ineffective. The main goal of Manipulation Under Anesthesia is to remodel (break down) this scar tissue, thus freeing the joint for movement and to relieve pain.
The MUA procedure employs a team approach of highly trained MUA certified chiropractors (D.C.'s), M.D.'s and D.O.'s and a Board Certified Anesthesiologist along with a skilled nursing staff at an Ambulatory Outpatient Surgery Center. Dr. Brandon Wood is specially trained and certified in MUA by the American Academy of Manual and Physical Medicine and has extensive experience in Manipulation Under Anesthesia.
MUA is highly effective for people with neck, back and joint problems. It is also effective for people with conditions caused by long term disabilities or auto accident injury and for injuries that have not been responsive to conventional treatments. Some conditions MUA helps include:
If you have any of these indicators and have received traditional health care with limited or no improvement, you may be a candidate for Manipulation Under Anesthesia.
